City of Whittlesea
The City of Whittlesea recognises and values the diversity of its community and acknowledges that people with disabilities are valuable members of the community who have the same rights as all other residents.
Council's Disability Action Plan recognises that although a disability may limit an individual's capacity or ability, it is the lack of access and opportunity to participate in the community that causes a person with a disability to be excluded. This Plan outlines the City of Whittlesea's commitment to identifying barriers and enhancing opportunities for people with disabilities. The Plan was developed following extensive consultation with community members and stakeholders internal and external to Council.
The Disability Action Plan 2009 - 2012 is a practical and publicly accountable work plan which demonstrates Council's commitment to access and inclusion for all citizens.
