Community groups are invited to apply for a grant of up to $5,000 under the 2011/2012 City of Whittlesea Community Development Grants Program.

Community groups are invited to apply for a grant of up to $5,000 under the 2011/2012 City of Whittlesea Community Development Grants Program.
Whittlesea Mayor, Cr Rex Griffin says the Community Development Grants are a great opportunity for community groups to be funded for projects and events that facilitate community cohesion and strengthening and align with the strategic directions of the Community Plan.
The six key strategic directions of the Community Plan are:
- Inclusive and engaged community
- Accessibility in, out and around our City
- Growing our economy
- Places and spaces to connect people
- Health and wellbeing
- Living sustainably
A further allocation of up to $1000 is also available for new and emerging groups.
"Each year Council provides funding for a range of fantastic new initiatives and projects and I would encourage community groups to consider applying," Cr Griffin said.
Council will hold a number of information sessions to provide details of eligibility criteria and assist groups in the development of suitable applications
It is recommended that all applicants attend an information session to register and further explore their ideas for a prospective grant project.
Information sessions will be held in the Fountain View Room at the Council Offices, 25 Ferres Boulevard, South Morang on
Monday 28 March from 9.30am - 11.30am
Wednesday 30 March from 7pm - 9pm
Monday 2 May from 9.30am - 11.30am
Wednesday 4 May from 7pm - 9pm.
