Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction program
Second Term 2010
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
An invitation to move toward greater balance, control and participation in your life...
If you feel tired, stressed, anxious or angry then this course may be able to assist you. The course is based on the evidenced based approaches known as Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction program, from the U-Mass Centre, as well as for Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy.
This course has 8 weekly sessions of 2 plus hours each which build sequentially commencing on 19 April at 7.30pm. The course will be held at St Scholastic School's Community Centre in Bennetswood.
What will the mindfulness practice include? Individuals will be introduced to several forms of mindfulness including sitting, yoga and walking meditations with the use of yoga. In addition, the course examines the way we relate to our thoughts and thinking through a series of exercises. Participants will be provided with notes, CD's and instruction and be expected to undertake 45 minutes practice a day.
This highly successful course will be run by two trainers. John is one of the most experienced and skilled mindfulness and stress reduction trainers in Australia today. This program is closely modelled on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (mbsr) program developed at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. John has trained extensively in mbsr in addition to being a senior clinical mental health trainer and counsellor and ahs also been trained in the Australian Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy program at Monash University.
