"What about us?" Challenging the Mental Health maze for Diverse Communities
Action on Disability within Ethnic Communities (ADEC) is proud to host a forum to mark World Mental Health Week on the 13 October 2010.
The aim of the forum is:
· to highlight the service gaps for people from diverse communities,
· to present the experiences of diverse communities with mainstream mental health services
· to raise awareness about access issues
Professor John Mendoza (Former Chair, National Advisory Council on Mental Health, Director, ConNetica Consulting Pty Ltd) will be the key note speaker.
The forum is intended for Government and policy makers, primary health care staff, allied health workers, community mental health workers, ethno specific support agencies, case managers and consumers and carers from diverse cultural backgrounds.
This forum will also give an ideal opportunity for Mental Health Service providers to promote their services to people from diverse communities in the form of an Expo.
The forum will be held at Bell City Event Centre (Rydges Hotel), 215 Bell Street, Preston VIC 3072.
The forum is complimentary for carers and consumers from Ethnic backgrounds.
Registration for organisations is $70 per person (incl. GST, morning tea & lunch).
