Extensions can be arranged, but you must give Brenda at VALID office a call or drop me an email to work out an extension.

Sponsorship
Sponsorship applications close this Friday 25th Nov. for people with disability who live in Victoria.

Please read the information in the back of the Registration Booklet.
It will tell you who gets 'priority' (gets in first) for sponsorship.
[Please Note: Due to the Federal government reducing it's grant scheme, we apologise that we are not able to provide sponsorship support to people with disabilities and their families from interstate. However, we can provide Concession subsidy to people from interstate.]
Updated Preliminary Program
Attached is an updated Prelim Program for the 2012 HaS conference.
The program has something for everyone!
* presentations & performances by self-advocates
* workshops eg. your rights in residential services,
* information Sessions on key issues eg. DIsability Commissioner
* the Auditor-Generals report into individual funding
&
keeping the pressure on government about the NDIS - join the rally Thurs 9th Feb. during HaS lunch break.
Come & Try activities
New activities added to Come & Try - new booking form attached.
The Central Bayside team will show you how to make the 'sweet stuff'
- see their story & admire their skills...... have a go yourself & get a 'slice' of the action!! yummy!!
Reminder to book your Come & Try (C&T) activities early, as the popular ones fill up fast.
Remember that you must be registered to book for C&T activities, ie. ensure you send in your Registration Form before or with your C&T bookings.
TIP: For large groups you - rather than fill out a form for every person, we are happy to receive a 'table' with the group leaders details, plus each participants - name PLUS their - 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th preferences of C&T activities
Art Competition
Get your entry into the Having a Say conference Art Competition - entries must be in before Christmas.
This competition will again be sponsored by the Office of the Senior Practitioner, who has used the competition to raise awareness about human rights over the last few years.
So get painting or drawing on the theme - My Life, My Way.
Dinner & Disco
The 2012 Dinner Disco will be held at a new & exciting venue, The Pier.
The Pier is where the Smorgy's was located - out on the water at the end of the Cunningham pier. It has great views. The theme is 'Flower power'. It is going to be fantastic!!!
Accommodation
We would remind everyone that if you are coming to the conference and need accessible accommodation, it would be a good idea to book it now as it is limited!

Volunteering at HaS
At the 2011 conference we were supported by many volunteers from the local community, disability organisations, family members & the Department of Human Services including, the Disability Services Division, the Office of the Senior Practitioner & our 2012 principal sponsor the Office of the Disability Services Commissioner.
If you are interested in volunteering, please ring VALID and speak to Brenda or Rick.
